This ship paper model is the first USS Monitor, an iron-hulled steamship and the first ironclad warship commissioned by the United States Navy during the American Civil War, the papercraft was created by National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration.

Uss Monitor is most famous for her participation in the Battle of Hampton Roads on 9 March 1862, where she fought the casemate ironclad CSS Virginia to a standoff. The unique design of the ship distinguished by its revolving turret was soon replicated and came to establish the Monitor class type of naval war vessel.
