The X-01 power armor is a set created by the remnants of the U.S. military after the events of the Great War. It improves upon the pre-war suits by offering superior protective abilities. The power armor bears considerable resemblance to the advanced power armor seen in previous Fallout games, mainly due to the helmet design and general style.
X-01 power armor provides the greatest defense among all other models of power armor featured in Fallout 4 thus far, such as the raider power armor, T-45, T-51, and T-60.

This particular variation of power armor is much larger and bulkier than other recent portrayals, closer to the appearance of classic Fallout power armor. The set looks highly similar to the T-45d power armor, but with a few minor differences. The shoulders of the T-60 are composite, double layered, and shorter than its T-45d predecessor.
The T-45d shoulder plates are almost twice as long and are only a single piece of metal. The opening valve on the T-60 set is lower on the suit, larger, and has a slot for a fusion core. The breastplate on the T-60 has two vertical handlebars, while the T-45d has a single horizontal handlebar. This particular set is superior to T-45 and T-51 armors. [Source: wikia]

T-45d suits were discovered by the Brotherhood of Steel in the ruins of the Pentagon and were extensively used by Brotherhood Knights and Paladins, along with modifications and makeshift repairs. Other variations can be found in terms of coloring and other decorations.
