New Paper Craft: Classic BattleTech - Marauder IIC Free Mech Paper Model Download

Classic BattleTech - Marauder IIC Free Mech Paper Model DownloadThis mech paper model is Marauder IIC, a mech from the game Classic BattleTech, the papercraft is created by Whammy. The size of finished model is about 220 (H) x 193 (W) x 138 (D) mm.

One of the most notable IIC BattleMechs, the Marauder IIC is based upon one of the most iconic "Mechs in existence, the Marauder.

Touted as one of the most effective "Mechs of all time, the Marauder saw wide usage during the Star League era by all the Great Houses. The design was also much favored by both the Star League Defense Force"s Regular and Royal unit as well as its famed Gunslingers, with many examples taken on Operation EXODUS. The belief that the Marauder was a precursor to a new "Mech design paradigm disappeared in the Inner Sphere as the Succession Wars dragged on; however, in the same year as the Second Succession War broke out the Clans developed an advanced refit of the venerable design later dubbed the Marauder IIC, utilizing technology already far in advance of that rapidly disappearing in the Successor States.

It is to the credit of its original engineers that no production variants of the Marauder IIC appeared until a wellspring of new technology emerged in the 3050s and "60s, with Clan Star Adderintroducing a visually refreshed model carrying the then-newly developed Heavy Lasers that quickly spread to the Cloud Cobras, Goliath Scorpions, Snow Ravens, Blood Spirits and Diamond Sharks. The efforts of the mercantile Sharks would result in the further spread of the design to the Inner Sphere-based Invading Clans, followed by Clans Jade Falcon and Ghost Bear introducing new Marauder IIC variants and constructing new productions lines for them on Sudeten and Satalice respectively during the Word of Blake Jihad. [Source: sarna]

New Paper Craft: Classic BattleTech - Wyvern Free BattleMech Paper Model Download

Classic BattleTech - Wyvern Free BattleMech Paper Model DownloadThis mech paper model is Wyvern, designed in 2660 as an urban warfare BattleMech for the Star League Defense Force, from the game Classic BattleTech, the papercraft is created by Yogsolthan. The size of finished model is about 185 (H) x 82 (W) x 81 (D) mm.

While considered slow when compared to other medium "Mechs, and indeed vulnerable if forced to engage in open country, the Wyvern quickly proved itself to be one of the best urban combatants ever built. Thanks to its combination of weaponry, heavy armor and jump jets the Wyverncan take on and destroy "Mechs well outside its weight class. Standard practice during battle was for the Wyvern to use its impressive maneuverability to move around obstacles other "Mechs couldn"t navigate and get behind an enemy to unleash considerable firepower on their exposed rear. Unfortunately the Wyvern proved to be too good at its job, which included not just urban defense and garrison duty but crowd control as well; few MechWarriors relished the task of pacifying a city and threatening unarmed protestors. Despite the stigma associated with it there were some MechWarriors who enjoyed piloting the Wyvern and were amongst the proudest in the SLDF.

In the wake of the Star League"s collapse the Wyvern continued to serve in the Successor States and the Maltex Corporation continued to build new Wyverns from their factory on Errai. However when the Succession Wars began and some of the "Mech"s components became lostech, the company was forced to produce a downgraded version, shifting what advanced technology they could produce over to try and keep the Thug line going. Finally the Wyvern factory was destroyed in 2835 by a battalion of raiders which took great pains to hide their identities. As the Third Succession War kicked off both sides wished to preserve what little remained of their infrastructures and in most cases refused to engage each other in cities or industrial complexes. This change relegated the Wyvern to fighting in other areas where speed was not a factor, such as mountainous or heavily-forested terrain.

Despite losses suffered over the years up through to the Clan Invasion all of the Successor States could still field at least one Wyvern in their arsenal, although few variants were ever attempted.ComStar used the Wyvern to outfit their Com Guards and, in the lead-up to the Battle of Tukayyid, did modify the "Mech into one of their so-called "Clanbusters" to better combat the threat of the Clans. It wouldn"t be until 3064 that Maltex finally restarted their Wyvern production line and a series of upgrades were developed to take advantage of rediscovered lostech which would see use of the Wyvern renewed. [Source: sarna]

New Paper Craft: Classic BattleTech - Woodsman Free OmniMech Paper Model Download

Classic BattleTech - Woodsman Free OmniMech Paper Model DownloadThis mech paper model is Woodsman, a mech from the game Classic BattleTech, the papercraft is created by Whammy. The size of finished model is about 216 (H) x 161 (W) x 127 (D) mm.

The first heavy OmniMech developed by Clan Wolf, the Woodsmanwas one of the most heavily tested weapons ever produced by the clan. Every last detail was considered and problems were eliminated before production began. This resulted in a chassis that would not only function well in the Clan"s front line forces for nearly a century, but also inspire the Timber Wolf, Gargoyle, and Naga OmniMechs.

Heavy armor provided excellent protection, while a standard fusion engine improved longevity on the battlefield. The light Endo Steelchassis allowed the Woodsman to devote 27 tons to pod space, allowing many mission specific loadouts and prototype weapon configurations. The permanently installed MASC system allowed a pilot to briefly exceed 80 km/h to either withdraw or capitalize on breaches in enemy ranks. Though it served the Wolf Clan well, it was eventually surpassed by newer designs. The Woodsman was relegated to second-line units, and then eventually phased out of service completely. There are some rumors that a few Dark Caste bandits may have a Woodsman, but these reports remain unconfirmed. [Source: sarna]

New Paper Craft: Classic BattleTech - Wasp Free Mech Paper Model Download

Classic BattleTech - Wasp Free Mech Paper Model DownloadThis mech paper model is Wasp, a mech from the game Classic BattleTech, the papercraft is created by Whammy. The size of finished model is about 190 (H) x 128 (W) x 109 (D) mm.

Introduced in 2464 as an attempt by General Mechanics to create a fast and maneuverable recon BattleMech for the Terran Hegemony, the Wasp was revolutionary for being the first "Mech capable of jumping, sporting a prototype Jump Jet system; however, the system was not perfected for most of the next decade. With improvements in production and Jump Jet technology, the modern WSP-1A Wasp began production in 2471. Centuries later, it is still considered a valued asset for recon work and is one of the most numerous "Mech in existence.

The classic WSP-1A had a ground speed that could be considered lackluster when compared to most modern light "Mechs, but this was offset by its jump capability. While carrying heavier weapons than "Mechs like the Locust, the Wasp would generally only engage other light "Mechs, using its jumping capabilities to avoid conflicts with larger foes. The Wasp was also used in the role of raider because of its ability to hit and fade in rough terrain.

Even after the sheer destruction of the Succession Wars, the Waspstill remained the most numerous "Mech ahead of the Locust and Stinger; many thousands were in use by all of the Great Houses and in the Periphery while a hundred more were built each year from factories across known space. Nearly half of all newly-built Waspscame from IBMU"s and Kali Yama"s factories located in the Free Worlds League on Shiro III and Kalidasa respectively. Among other major Inner Sphere Wasp manufacturing sites were Defiance Industries" Furillo factory within the Lyran Commonwealth and Archenar BattleMechs on New Avalon within the Federated Suns. Many of the Great Houses had Wasp variants built specifically for them, as did Wolf"s Dragoons. Out in the Periphery the Wasp was manufactured on Taurus, Perdition, Canopus IV and Alpheratz, making it equally common among the Periphery States.

The reintroduction of Star League lostech was used to update the ancient design with modern improvements, starting first with the WSP-1S built by Defiance for the Federated Commonwealth. This was followed by the new WSP-3W built specifically for Wolf"s Dragoons by Archenar, then the WSP-3M built by IBMU and Kali Yama.[10] Another wave of updates came when Vicore Industriesbegan to peddle their "Project Phoenix" program and found a willing buyer in Hellespont Industries. Requiring only minor changes to their production line, these new more mobile, more stealthy WSP-3Ls debuted in late July of 3067, and within the Capellan Confederation Armed Forces was used with new Ravenand Phoenix Hawk models to form Shadow Lances. Taurus Territorial and Detroit Consolidated also began building these new Wasps under license from Hellespont, while Defiance designed their own updated version of the Wasp, the WSP-3S, which was then licensed to Archenar. [Source: sarna]

New Paper Craft: Classic BattleTech - Warhammer IIC Free Mech Paper Model Download

Classic BattleTech - Warhammer IIC Free Mech Paper Model DownloadThis mech paper model is Warhammer IIC, a mech from the game Classic BattleTech, the papercraft is created by Whammy. The size of finished model is about 288 (H) x 271 (W) x 193 (D) mm. There is also a Warhammer Mech Paper Model on the site.

The original Warhammer was designed as an assault BattleMech. However, it had been superceded by later and heavier "Mech designs, though it remained a powerful weapons platform. The Clans wisely maintained and built on this solid frame a real assault "Mech, the Warhammer IIC. Thanks to their technological expertise, they were able to add ten tons with the same speed and firepower and nearly double the armor of the original. The Warhammer IIC is built on an Endo Steel frame and is protected by twelve tons of Ferro-Fibrous armor. The result is a dangerous "Mech, able to hold its own in any battle against the Inner Sphere. Also note that the armor was the primary concern when designing the IIc version rivaling even 100 ton assault mechs in durability and protection. [Source: sarna]

New Paper Craft: Classic BattleTech - Warhammer Free Mech Paper Model Download

Classic BattleTech - Warhammer Free Mech Paper Model DownloadThis mech paper model is Warhammer, a mech from the game Classic BattleTech, the papercraft is created by Whammy. The size of finished model is about 226 (H) x 137 (W) x 160 (D) mm. There are 1:60 and 1:120 two scale versions available.

The Warhammer BattleMech was introduced by StarCorps Industries in 2515 to be "a mobile "Mech with enough firepower to destroy or severely damage any "Mech of the same weight class or lower." In the mission it was designed for, the Warhammer proved to be a very capable "Mech, and for centuries practically defined the entire class of heavy "Mechs. Boasting incredible firepower and respectable armoring, the Warhammer served prominently in the Star League Defense Force and was one of the premier "Mechs in the Gunslinger Program. Indeed, many of the greatest MechWarriors in history were Warhammer pilots.

After the fall of the Star League, the Warhammer continued to serve in the armies of the Great Houses during the Succession Wars. Its longevity was helped by the large number of Warhammer factories spread across both the Inner Sphere and Periphery, despite relatively low production rates; Ronin Inc. was never able to build more than five Warhammers a year from their Wallis factory. The recovery of the Helm Memory Core would spur on the creation of many new Lostech-using Warhammer variants by Inner Sphere manufactures, while the Periphery continued to build original models for mercenaries and black marketeers.

The design found a new lease on life after the Clan Invasion when StarCorps decided to revitalize the ancient "Mech with the latest in technological improvements. Initially the company was to build just one new variant from its Crofton plant, but as news of the plan spread other departments within StarCorps began to involve themselves in the program and descended upon Crofton for a week-long conference to hash out the particulars. The conference ended up being more celebratory than anticipated, and at the end of the bacchanalian-like "negotiations" it was eventually decided four new variants would be built: one each for the Federated Suns, Capellan, Free Worlds League and Lyran militaries, and using technology unique to each realm. Some examples of these new "Mechs achieved their baptism of fire during the FedCom Civil War. [Source: sarna]

New Paper Craft: Classic BattleTech - Marauder IIC Free Mech Paper Model Download

Classic BattleTech - Marauder IIC Free Mech Paper Model DownloadThis mech paper model is Malak, the lightest in the Word of Blake"s Celestial series of OmniMechs designed for the Manei Domini, from the game Classic BattleTech, the papercraft is created by Yogsolthan. The size of finished model is about 48 (H) x 39 (W) x 38 (D) mm.

The Malak, Arabic for "angel," features a dazzling array of new construction materials in an attempt to free up as much weight as possible in a fast and reliable package. The "Mech is protected with six tons of Light Ferro-Fibrous armor which weighs less than standard armor. To free up even more space, the "Mech mounts an XL Gyro, and a small cockpit in addition to its Endo Steel frame. A C3i Computerallows it to sync with other Manei Domini so equipped. Nine and a half tons are left for modular equipment. [Source: sarna]

New Paper Craft: Classic BattleTech - Mad Dog Mk IV (Vulture Mk IV) Free Mech Paper Model Download

Classic BattleTech - Mad Dog Mk IV (Vulture Mk IV) Free Mech Paper Model DownloadThis mech paper model is Mad Dog Mk IV (Vulture Mk IV), a mech from the game Classic BattleTech, the papercraft is created by Whammy. The finished model stands about 24 cm tall.

Manufactured by Clan Sea Fox and sold to every nation and Clan, the Vulture Mk IV OmniMech is largely unchanged from the original in basic design terms, incorporating self-contained missile pods in the torsos that are angled upwards to obtain the longest possible range and the projecting cockpit armoured with heavily reinforced ferro-glass that provides a panoramic view of the battlefield while providing ample protection to the pilot, dispelling the illusion of vulnerability the Vulture Mk IV"s appearance might suggest.

Intended to take and hold the high ground, the Vulture Mk IV lacks jump jets but is capable of moving at more than eighty kilometers per hour and has surprised many with its agility. Variants of this successful design largely restrict themselves to altering the configuration of the missile pods; to reduce the risk of pilots finding themselves defenseless once their ammunition is expended, every variant also incorporates at least one energy weapon. The Vulture Mk IV also mounts fourteen and a half tons of advanced ferro-lamellor armor for physical protection and is known as the Mad Dog Mk IV to the Clans. [Source: sarna]

Classic BattleTech - Toyama Free Mech Paper Model DownloadThis mech paper model is Toyama, a mech from the game Classic BattleTech, the papercraft is created by Yogsolthan and Madcatmaniac, skins by Sturm and Yogsolthan. The size of finished model is about 210 (H) x 135 (W) x 136 (D) mm.

Built due to an awkward exchange of technology between the Free Worlds League and the Word of Blake, the Toyama was designed by Dr. Thaddeus Anable and then given to the Word of Blake through an agreement made by Captain-General Thomas Marik. The Toyama is intended to be a multi-role BattleMech that can operate somewhat independently of supply lines. The "Mech is built on a lightweight Endo Steel chassis which supports a Vlar 300 XL engine. The Toyama has a top speed of 64.8 km/h, making it capable of keeping pace with most heavy "Mechs. The Toyama has an impressive twelve tons of Durallex Heavy armor. To dissipate heat, the Toyama carries fourteen double heat sinks. The "Mech also carries a Garret/Guardian Interface Guardian ECM Suite to protect the "Mech from advanced enemy electronic warfare systems. [Source: sarna]

New Paper Craft: Classic BattleTech - Titan II Free Mech Paper Model Download

Classic BattleTech - Titan II Free Mech Paper Model DownloadThis mech paper model is Titan II, a BattleMech produced by Kressly WarWorks on Epsilon Eridani for the Word of Blake"s Protectorate Militia, from the game Classic BattleTech, the papercraft is created by Yogsolthan. The size of finished model is about 238 (H) x 177 (W) x 95 (D) mm.

First identified by the Successor States in 3071, the Titan II owes its existence to the Titan, a prototype that dates to 2765. That design was unearthed by the Federated Suns in 3023 and led to the Grand Titan. That design deviated significantly from the original, while the Titan II is more of an upgrade using new weaponry.

Like the original, the Titan II has a top speed of 54 km/h and nineteen tons of standard armor. Since the "Mech is produced for the Blakists" garrison forces, it makes no use of expensive, weight-saving technologies. It also lacks the advanced electronics that have become the hallmark of Word military forces. [Source: sarna]

New Paper Craft: Classic BattleTech - Thunderbolt (Project Phoenix) Free Mech Paper Model Download

Classic BattleTech - Thunderbolt (Project Phoenix) Free Mech Paper Model DownloadThis mech paper model is a Thunderbolt [Technical Readout: Project Phoenix ver.], started production in 2491 as a planetary-assault "Mech, and in fact was one of the heaviest "Mechs capable of being produced at that time, from the game Classic BattleTech, the papercraft is created by BLaar.

Since then the "Mech, known affectionately as the T-Bolt, may have had its classification changed as larger "Mechs were built but thanks to periodic updates it is still feared and respected by many. With its varied arsenal the Thunderboltremains one of the best-armed "Mechs, making it capable of serving in many roles. It is also an incredibly well-armored "Mech, rivaling or exceeding the amount of armor carried by some assault "Mechs. One downside to the Thunderbolt though is poor heat management. The Thunderbolt is also noted for featuring an exceptionally roomy cockpit, compared to that of the Atlas or BattleMaster.

The original TDR-1C Thunderbolt was the first BattleMech of Earthwerks Incorporated, produced from their new plant on Tikonov. Despite the Confederation"s relative inexperience with BattleMech technology, Earthwerks Thunderbolt was impressive. The T-bolt set records in time between prototype and production, despite starting from scratch. The Thunderbolt"s formidable performance caught the attention of the Confederation"sneighbors and made Earthwerks a tremendous success. Within 15 years, Earthwerks expanded anti-spinward into the Free Worlds League, choosing Keystone as the location to produce their upgraded TDR-5S. Olivetti Weaponry on Sudeten also picked up the design following their formation. During the Succession Wars this made House Steiner and House Marik the largest users of Thunderbolts, although they were eager to sell the design to the other Successor States. Thus Thunderbolts remained a traditionally Capellan "Mech too, at least until the Fourth Succession War and Andurien Wars. The Taurian Concordat was one of the largest users of the Thunderbolt in the Periphery thanks to both Vandenberg Mechanized Industries and Taurus Territorial Industries acquiring and producing the "Mech from their factories on Pinard and Taurus respectively, with many being sold to mercenary bands.

Both Earthwerks and Olivetti introduced new Thunderbolt variants utilizing lostech just before the Clan Invasion while the Taurian factories continued to churn out older models. When Sudeten was conquered by Clan Jade Falcon the Olivetti factory was lost to the Inner Sphere, and though using outdated technology by Clan standards it was still producing Thunderbolts into 3054. Several years later Earthwerks built an update to the aging Thunderbolt in the TDR-9M variant but ran into trouble with Irian BattleMechs Unlimited. Irian had just recently introduced the Tempest as their replacement for the ancient "Mech and lobbied the League Central Coordination and Command to put a stop to any new Thunderbolts. A legal fight was brewing up when the Word of Blake stepped in and negotiated a compromise: the two designs would fight each other in a combat trial, with the winning design used to supply the Blakist military. The TDR-9M won and starting in April 3067 the Word of Blake began receiving their shipments of new Thunderbolts, followed shortly thereafter by the Free Worlds League Military. [Source: sarna]

New Paper Craft: Classic BattleTech - Thug Free Mech Paper Model Download

Classic BattleTech - Thug Free Mech Paper Model DownloadThis mech paper model is Thug, designed by Maltex Corporation as a direct competitor to the popular Warhammer BattleMech, from the Classic BattleTech, the papercraft is created by Yogsolthan. The size of finished model is about 225 (H) x 134 (W) x 93 (D) mm.

First seeing production in 2572, the Thug sought to directly address some of the challenges which faced the Warhammer, chief of which was to increase armor protection without sacrificing firepower. When compared side-by-side, the Thug has a great many advantages over the Warhammer, yet it never wholly replaced the venerable "Mech. Still the Thug proved popular enough that Maltex Corporation was forced to contract Earthwerks Incorporated to produce the Thug on Keystone in order to meet demand. Although it has had its detractors, the Thug has proven itself for over five hundred years to be the quintessential "zombie "Mech."

Production of the Thug from Maltex"s original factory on Errai ceased when it was destroyed in 2835, one of many causalities of the Succession Wars, leaving only Earthwerks to continue building new Thugs at a rate of twelve per year. Unfortunately the same terrible conflict resulted in the loss of much advanced knowledge and technology, threatening their ability to keep even this meager production rate up. In a twist of fate it was the Warhammer which helped keep the Thug production line alive: with the loss of their original PPC weaponry, Earthwerks instead reworked the design to make use of the extensive stockpile of Donal PPCs used by the Warhammer, allowing new Thugs to be built and repairs to be made more easily.

Beyond the few still in service to the Great Houses the largest user of Thugs was ComStar, a fact confirmed upon the reveal of their Com Guards. Eventually the recovery of lostech would allow both Earthwerks and Maltex to restart production of original-model Thugs during the 3050s. These were supplanted by new variants which, following the formation of the Second Star League, were supplied to ComStar, the SLDF, the Draconis Combine and Federated Suns. New Thugs were also built for the Word of Blakeand those forces of the Free Worlds League aligned with them during the Jihad. [Source: sarna]

New Paper Craft: Classic BattleTech - Targe Free Mech Paper Model Download

Classic BattleTech - Targe Free Mech Paper Model DownloadThis mech paper model is Targe, from the Classic BattleTech, the papercraft is created by Yogsolthan. The size of finished model is about 172 (H) x 89 (W) x 118 (D) mm. There are 1:60 and 1:120 two scale versions available.

Named after the shield that was the primary means of defense for the Scottish Highlanders of Terra, the Targe is a lackluster recon and cavalry design born of compromise.

While having a long history of building solid, if unspectacular, designs such as the Crab and Black Watch, upon Northwind"s entry into the Republic of the Sphere, Cosara Weaponries looked towards developing a new "Mech for the new-born Republic"s military to shake off this reputation and add to its profit margin. Researching what the equipment the fledgling RAF had access to, what it would need as it expanded and what Cosara could realistically produce, the end result was strict guidelines for a medium "Mech capable of exceeding 160 kph for short periods, whose primary weapon was a missile system supported by lasers. Unwilling to compromise on these requirements, the end result was itself compromised, with purchases from the famed Northwind Highlanders far exceeding limited sales to the hesitant RAF. Cosara would continue to tinker to try and enhance the maligned design, producing a few hundred before its assembly lines were assigned to civilian production during the Republic era.

Unwilling to utilize an expensive and fragile XL Engine, Cosara hedged their bets with a slightly heaver Pitban 320 rated Light Fusion Engine, capable of reaching 172 kph in short bursts when the MASC is engaged, but taking up taking up nearly half the "Mech"s weight. The use of Heavy Ferro-Fibrous armor maximized the five tons available for armor coverage, while ten Double Heat Sinks could easily cope with the design"s heat output. [Source: sarna]

New Paper Craft: Classic BattleTech - Striker Free Mech Paper Model Download

Classic BattleTech - Striker Free Mech Paper Model DownloadThis mech paper model is Striker, originally designed by the SLDF high command in 2571 for non-Royal SLDF units, from the Classic BattleTech, the papercraft is created by Yogsolthan and Smoking Mirror, skins by Sturm. The size of finished model is about 230 (H) x 154 (W) x 113 (D) mm.

Along with the Stalker, the Strikerbecame one of the most common "Mechs in service. The Striker was built with the intent of being rugged and reliable, but more importantly, allowed House Lords to reserve their precious and limited numbers of assault BattleMechs for their own personal armies. In this way, the Striker may have been the show of good faith the House Lords needed to make the Star League work. In spite of the "Mech"s dependability, the Striker was marginal compared with later assault BattleMechs, and was eventually relegated to serving in militia units, with the highest concentration ending up on the rimward edge of the Terran Hegemony. After the destruction of the Stormvanger lines in 2867, fewer than 300 Strikers were known to exist. [Source: sarna]
