New Paper Craft: Classic BattleTech - Marauder IIC Free Mech Paper Model Download

Classic BattleTech - Marauder IIC Free Mech Paper Model DownloadThis mech paper model is Marauder IIC, a mech from the game Classic BattleTech, the papercraft is created by Whammy. The size of finished model is about 220 (H) x 193 (W) x 138 (D) mm.

One of the most notable IIC BattleMechs, the Marauder IIC is based upon one of the most iconic "Mechs in existence, the Marauder.

Touted as one of the most effective "Mechs of all time, the Marauder saw wide usage during the Star League era by all the Great Houses. The design was also much favored by both the Star League Defense Force"s Regular and Royal unit as well as its famed Gunslingers, with many examples taken on Operation EXODUS. The belief that the Marauder was a precursor to a new "Mech design paradigm disappeared in the Inner Sphere as the Succession Wars dragged on; however, in the same year as the Second Succession War broke out the Clans developed an advanced refit of the venerable design later dubbed the Marauder IIC, utilizing technology already far in advance of that rapidly disappearing in the Successor States.

It is to the credit of its original engineers that no production variants of the Marauder IIC appeared until a wellspring of new technology emerged in the 3050s and "60s, with Clan Star Adderintroducing a visually refreshed model carrying the then-newly developed Heavy Lasers that quickly spread to the Cloud Cobras, Goliath Scorpions, Snow Ravens, Blood Spirits and Diamond Sharks. The efforts of the mercantile Sharks would result in the further spread of the design to the Inner Sphere-based Invading Clans, followed by Clans Jade Falcon and Ghost Bear introducing new Marauder IIC variants and constructing new productions lines for them on Sudeten and Satalice respectively during the Word of Blake Jihad. [Source: sarna]

New Paper Craft: MechCommander 2 - Zeus Free Mech Paper Model Download

MechCommander 2 - Zeus Free Mech Paper Model DownloadThis mech paper model is a low poly Zeus, first built by the Lyran Commonwealth in 2787, just as the First Succession War began, from the real-time tactics video game MechCommander 2 of the BattleTech/MechWarrior franchise, the papercraft is created by Vlmarshall, Nynx, D00mg1v3r and Normblow. The size of finished model is about 240 (H) x 212 (W) x 173 (D) mm.

Built at the request of Lyran Commonwealth Armed Forces commanders for a new light-assault "Mech designed to engage the enemy at long range and perform hit-and-run attacks, the Zeus is fast enough to keep up with most heavy "Mechs, and with a sturdy frame, eleven tons of armor and a versatile weapons array, is equally capable of defeating them. Its use of reliable, low-maintenance and easily-modified systems at a time when most "Mechs were built with cutting-edge technology also proved fortuitous, allowing the Zeus to be produced long after those advanced components had become Lostech.

On the drawing board three years prior to its introduction, the first two prototypes of the Zeus would receive their first "test run" when they were forced to fight off an assault on the Hesperus II factory by the Draconis Combine Mustered Soldiery. As the enemy broke through Lyran lines, the two "Mechs were called up to assist, and through sheer novelty and long-range firepower, forced the Kuritans to pause. This allowed additional reinforcements to push DCMS forces back. While successful in holding off the attack, these prototypes were noticeably more advanced than the production model and armed with a PPC, which proved erratic and unreliable during the battle. The cause of this behavior was later discovered to be insufficient shielding which created wild magnetic interactions between the weapon and the Zeus"s engine. To ensure the Zeus was delivered to the front-lines quickly it was decided to replace the advanced energy weapon with the simpler autocannon.

The "Mech would first appear in significant numbers when the 15th Lyran Guards recaptured the planet Sakhalin, and through the course of the Succession Wars the Zeus had a long and storied history within the Commonwealth, becoming a well-respected assault "Mech. After the end of the Third Succession War advances had allowed engineers to mount a PPC on the Zeus again, with the resulting ZEU-6T model becoming the standard during the Fourth Succession War and later the War of 3039. The design also won high praise among mercenary units, none more so than Zeta Battalion of Wolf"s Dragoons.

The Zeus would face resistance by some units of the former AFFSfollowing the creation of the Federated Commonwealth, whose "Davion pride" prevented them from making use of the "Mech despite its superiority to many of their own machines. Likewise as the FedCom military increasingly took on a Davion flavor many Lyran commanders were insistent that their pride and joy was too valuable to give up, and so prodded Defiance Industries to produce new models which made use of newly-recovered Star LeagueLostech. The debut of the ZEU-9S Zeus would see production of the previous variants discontinued and examples of this signature Lyran "Mech shipped to all corners of the Commonwealth as a symbol of the new alliance. By the time of the FedCom Civil War though, the majority of Zeus "Mechs were in Lyran hands, with many of those given to Davion units having been relegated to rear-guard duty or sold to mercenaries. New variants would continue to be produced for the LAAF and, following their capture of Hesperus II in 3070, the Word of Blake Militia. [Source: sarna]

New Paper Craft: Classic BattleTech - Wyvern Free BattleMech Paper Model Download

Classic BattleTech - Wyvern Free BattleMech Paper Model DownloadThis mech paper model is Wyvern, designed in 2660 as an urban warfare BattleMech for the Star League Defense Force, from the game Classic BattleTech, the papercraft is created by Yogsolthan. The size of finished model is about 185 (H) x 82 (W) x 81 (D) mm.

While considered slow when compared to other medium "Mechs, and indeed vulnerable if forced to engage in open country, the Wyvern quickly proved itself to be one of the best urban combatants ever built. Thanks to its combination of weaponry, heavy armor and jump jets the Wyverncan take on and destroy "Mechs well outside its weight class. Standard practice during battle was for the Wyvern to use its impressive maneuverability to move around obstacles other "Mechs couldn"t navigate and get behind an enemy to unleash considerable firepower on their exposed rear. Unfortunately the Wyvern proved to be too good at its job, which included not just urban defense and garrison duty but crowd control as well; few MechWarriors relished the task of pacifying a city and threatening unarmed protestors. Despite the stigma associated with it there were some MechWarriors who enjoyed piloting the Wyvern and were amongst the proudest in the SLDF.

In the wake of the Star League"s collapse the Wyvern continued to serve in the Successor States and the Maltex Corporation continued to build new Wyverns from their factory on Errai. However when the Succession Wars began and some of the "Mech"s components became lostech, the company was forced to produce a downgraded version, shifting what advanced technology they could produce over to try and keep the Thug line going. Finally the Wyvern factory was destroyed in 2835 by a battalion of raiders which took great pains to hide their identities. As the Third Succession War kicked off both sides wished to preserve what little remained of their infrastructures and in most cases refused to engage each other in cities or industrial complexes. This change relegated the Wyvern to fighting in other areas where speed was not a factor, such as mountainous or heavily-forested terrain.

Despite losses suffered over the years up through to the Clan Invasion all of the Successor States could still field at least one Wyvern in their arsenal, although few variants were ever attempted.ComStar used the Wyvern to outfit their Com Guards and, in the lead-up to the Battle of Tukayyid, did modify the "Mech into one of their so-called "Clanbusters" to better combat the threat of the Clans. It wouldn"t be until 3064 that Maltex finally restarted their Wyvern production line and a series of upgrades were developed to take advantage of rediscovered lostech which would see use of the Wyvern renewed. [Source: sarna]

New Paper Craft: Classic BattleTech - Woodsman Free OmniMech Paper Model Download

Classic BattleTech - Woodsman Free OmniMech Paper Model DownloadThis mech paper model is Woodsman, a mech from the game Classic BattleTech, the papercraft is created by Whammy. The size of finished model is about 216 (H) x 161 (W) x 127 (D) mm.

The first heavy OmniMech developed by Clan Wolf, the Woodsmanwas one of the most heavily tested weapons ever produced by the clan. Every last detail was considered and problems were eliminated before production began. This resulted in a chassis that would not only function well in the Clan"s front line forces for nearly a century, but also inspire the Timber Wolf, Gargoyle, and Naga OmniMechs.

Heavy armor provided excellent protection, while a standard fusion engine improved longevity on the battlefield. The light Endo Steelchassis allowed the Woodsman to devote 27 tons to pod space, allowing many mission specific loadouts and prototype weapon configurations. The permanently installed MASC system allowed a pilot to briefly exceed 80 km/h to either withdraw or capitalize on breaches in enemy ranks. Though it served the Wolf Clan well, it was eventually surpassed by newer designs. The Woodsman was relegated to second-line units, and then eventually phased out of service completely. There are some rumors that a few Dark Caste bandits may have a Woodsman, but these reports remain unconfirmed. [Source: sarna]

New Paper Craft: Classic BattleTech - Wasp Free Mech Paper Model Download

Classic BattleTech - Wasp Free Mech Paper Model DownloadThis mech paper model is Wasp, a mech from the game Classic BattleTech, the papercraft is created by Whammy. The size of finished model is about 190 (H) x 128 (W) x 109 (D) mm.

Introduced in 2464 as an attempt by General Mechanics to create a fast and maneuverable recon BattleMech for the Terran Hegemony, the Wasp was revolutionary for being the first "Mech capable of jumping, sporting a prototype Jump Jet system; however, the system was not perfected for most of the next decade. With improvements in production and Jump Jet technology, the modern WSP-1A Wasp began production in 2471. Centuries later, it is still considered a valued asset for recon work and is one of the most numerous "Mech in existence.

The classic WSP-1A had a ground speed that could be considered lackluster when compared to most modern light "Mechs, but this was offset by its jump capability. While carrying heavier weapons than "Mechs like the Locust, the Wasp would generally only engage other light "Mechs, using its jumping capabilities to avoid conflicts with larger foes. The Wasp was also used in the role of raider because of its ability to hit and fade in rough terrain.

Even after the sheer destruction of the Succession Wars, the Waspstill remained the most numerous "Mech ahead of the Locust and Stinger; many thousands were in use by all of the Great Houses and in the Periphery while a hundred more were built each year from factories across known space. Nearly half of all newly-built Waspscame from IBMU"s and Kali Yama"s factories located in the Free Worlds League on Shiro III and Kalidasa respectively. Among other major Inner Sphere Wasp manufacturing sites were Defiance Industries" Furillo factory within the Lyran Commonwealth and Archenar BattleMechs on New Avalon within the Federated Suns. Many of the Great Houses had Wasp variants built specifically for them, as did Wolf"s Dragoons. Out in the Periphery the Wasp was manufactured on Taurus, Perdition, Canopus IV and Alpheratz, making it equally common among the Periphery States.

The reintroduction of Star League lostech was used to update the ancient design with modern improvements, starting first with the WSP-1S built by Defiance for the Federated Commonwealth. This was followed by the new WSP-3W built specifically for Wolf"s Dragoons by Archenar, then the WSP-3M built by IBMU and Kali Yama.[10] Another wave of updates came when Vicore Industriesbegan to peddle their "Project Phoenix" program and found a willing buyer in Hellespont Industries. Requiring only minor changes to their production line, these new more mobile, more stealthy WSP-3Ls debuted in late July of 3067, and within the Capellan Confederation Armed Forces was used with new Ravenand Phoenix Hawk models to form Shadow Lances. Taurus Territorial and Detroit Consolidated also began building these new Wasps under license from Hellespont, while Defiance designed their own updated version of the Wasp, the WSP-3S, which was then licensed to Archenar. [Source: sarna]

New Paper Craft: Classic BattleTech - Warhammer IIC Free Mech Paper Model Download

Classic BattleTech - Warhammer IIC Free Mech Paper Model DownloadThis mech paper model is Warhammer IIC, a mech from the game Classic BattleTech, the papercraft is created by Whammy. The size of finished model is about 288 (H) x 271 (W) x 193 (D) mm. There is also a Warhammer Mech Paper Model on the site.

The original Warhammer was designed as an assault BattleMech. However, it had been superceded by later and heavier "Mech designs, though it remained a powerful weapons platform. The Clans wisely maintained and built on this solid frame a real assault "Mech, the Warhammer IIC. Thanks to their technological expertise, they were able to add ten tons with the same speed and firepower and nearly double the armor of the original. The Warhammer IIC is built on an Endo Steel frame and is protected by twelve tons of Ferro-Fibrous armor. The result is a dangerous "Mech, able to hold its own in any battle against the Inner Sphere. Also note that the armor was the primary concern when designing the IIc version rivaling even 100 ton assault mechs in durability and protection. [Source: sarna]

New Paper Craft: Classic BattleTech - Warhammer Free Mech Paper Model Download

Classic BattleTech - Warhammer Free Mech Paper Model DownloadThis mech paper model is Warhammer, a mech from the game Classic BattleTech, the papercraft is created by Whammy. The size of finished model is about 226 (H) x 137 (W) x 160 (D) mm. There are 1:60 and 1:120 two scale versions available.

The Warhammer BattleMech was introduced by StarCorps Industries in 2515 to be "a mobile "Mech with enough firepower to destroy or severely damage any "Mech of the same weight class or lower." In the mission it was designed for, the Warhammer proved to be a very capable "Mech, and for centuries practically defined the entire class of heavy "Mechs. Boasting incredible firepower and respectable armoring, the Warhammer served prominently in the Star League Defense Force and was one of the premier "Mechs in the Gunslinger Program. Indeed, many of the greatest MechWarriors in history were Warhammer pilots.

After the fall of the Star League, the Warhammer continued to serve in the armies of the Great Houses during the Succession Wars. Its longevity was helped by the large number of Warhammer factories spread across both the Inner Sphere and Periphery, despite relatively low production rates; Ronin Inc. was never able to build more than five Warhammers a year from their Wallis factory. The recovery of the Helm Memory Core would spur on the creation of many new Lostech-using Warhammer variants by Inner Sphere manufactures, while the Periphery continued to build original models for mercenaries and black marketeers.

The design found a new lease on life after the Clan Invasion when StarCorps decided to revitalize the ancient "Mech with the latest in technological improvements. Initially the company was to build just one new variant from its Crofton plant, but as news of the plan spread other departments within StarCorps began to involve themselves in the program and descended upon Crofton for a week-long conference to hash out the particulars. The conference ended up being more celebratory than anticipated, and at the end of the bacchanalian-like "negotiations" it was eventually decided four new variants would be built: one each for the Federated Suns, Capellan, Free Worlds League and Lyran militaries, and using technology unique to each realm. Some examples of these new "Mechs achieved their baptism of fire during the FedCom Civil War. [Source: sarna]
