New Paper Craft: MechCommander 2 - Zeus Free Mech Paper Model Download

MechCommander 2 - Zeus Free Mech Paper Model DownloadThis mech paper model is a low poly Zeus, first built by the Lyran Commonwealth in 2787, just as the First Succession War began, from the real-time tactics video game MechCommander 2 of the BattleTech/MechWarrior franchise, the papercraft is created by Vlmarshall, Nynx, D00mg1v3r and Normblow. The size of finished model is about 240 (H) x 212 (W) x 173 (D) mm.

Built at the request of Lyran Commonwealth Armed Forces commanders for a new light-assault "Mech designed to engage the enemy at long range and perform hit-and-run attacks, the Zeus is fast enough to keep up with most heavy "Mechs, and with a sturdy frame, eleven tons of armor and a versatile weapons array, is equally capable of defeating them. Its use of reliable, low-maintenance and easily-modified systems at a time when most "Mechs were built with cutting-edge technology also proved fortuitous, allowing the Zeus to be produced long after those advanced components had become Lostech.

On the drawing board three years prior to its introduction, the first two prototypes of the Zeus would receive their first "test run" when they were forced to fight off an assault on the Hesperus II factory by the Draconis Combine Mustered Soldiery. As the enemy broke through Lyran lines, the two "Mechs were called up to assist, and through sheer novelty and long-range firepower, forced the Kuritans to pause. This allowed additional reinforcements to push DCMS forces back. While successful in holding off the attack, these prototypes were noticeably more advanced than the production model and armed with a PPC, which proved erratic and unreliable during the battle. The cause of this behavior was later discovered to be insufficient shielding which created wild magnetic interactions between the weapon and the Zeus"s engine. To ensure the Zeus was delivered to the front-lines quickly it was decided to replace the advanced energy weapon with the simpler autocannon.

The "Mech would first appear in significant numbers when the 15th Lyran Guards recaptured the planet Sakhalin, and through the course of the Succession Wars the Zeus had a long and storied history within the Commonwealth, becoming a well-respected assault "Mech. After the end of the Third Succession War advances had allowed engineers to mount a PPC on the Zeus again, with the resulting ZEU-6T model becoming the standard during the Fourth Succession War and later the War of 3039. The design also won high praise among mercenary units, none more so than Zeta Battalion of Wolf"s Dragoons.

The Zeus would face resistance by some units of the former AFFSfollowing the creation of the Federated Commonwealth, whose "Davion pride" prevented them from making use of the "Mech despite its superiority to many of their own machines. Likewise as the FedCom military increasingly took on a Davion flavor many Lyran commanders were insistent that their pride and joy was too valuable to give up, and so prodded Defiance Industries to produce new models which made use of newly-recovered Star LeagueLostech. The debut of the ZEU-9S Zeus would see production of the previous variants discontinued and examples of this signature Lyran "Mech shipped to all corners of the Commonwealth as a symbol of the new alliance. By the time of the FedCom Civil War though, the majority of Zeus "Mechs were in Lyran hands, with many of those given to Davion units having been relegated to rear-guard duty or sold to mercenaries. New variants would continue to be produced for the LAAF and, following their capture of Hesperus II in 3070, the Word of Blake Militia. [Source: sarna]

New Paper Craft: MechCommander 2 - UrbanMech Free Paper Model Download

MechCommander 2 - UrbanMech Free Paper Model DownloadThis paper model is an UrbanMech, designed for just what its name suggests, urban combat and defense, from the real-time tactics video game MechCommander 2 of the BattleTech/MechWarrior franchise, the papercraft is created by Vlmarshall. The size of finished model is about 139 (H) x 74 (W) x 92 (D) mm.

This was achieved by starting with a cheap, easily-produced chassis, giving it six tons Durallex armor to rival the protection found on many medium-weight BattleMechs, and mounting a pair of Pitban 6000 jump jets for a jumping distance of 60 meters. The trade-off was that it could only mount the miserable Leenex 60 engine, making the UrbanMech the slowest light "Mech in existence with a cruising speed of 21 km/h and top speed of only 32.4 km/h. This was a severe disadvantage if the "Mech attempted to fight in open country - something for only the foolish or desperate - but off-set by the fact that fighting in the close confines of a Star League city left little room to maneuver anyways and the UrbanMech"s low profile made it difficult to target. Thus the "Mech was primarily used for fighting guerrillas and other light "Mechs in an urban environment, an arena where it also achieved some success fighting medium and even heavy-weight "Mechs. Standard tactics for an UrbanMech lance was to split up into its constituent parts and occupy various buildings in order to snipe the enemy before falling back to the next defensive line.

Large numbers of UrbanMechs were produced by Orguss Industries from 2675 until the destruction of their assembly lines and could be found in all of the armies of the Successor States. However most military leaders saw the slow little "Mech as a liability, confining their stockpiles to garrison duty or stripping them of parts. This dismissive attitude towards the UrbanMechsaved it from the ravages of the Succession Wars and ensured its continued use into the thirty-first century. The Capellan Confederation remained the largest and only user of UrbanMechs to actually deploy them for front-line duty, a result of the devastation of the Fourth Succession War and their desperation for any "Mech to replenish their losses. The Confederation Reserve Cavalry and Capellan Defense Force had the lion"s share of UrbanMechs, followed by the Tikonov Republican Guard and St. Ives Armored Cavalry; outside the Confederation the Federated Suns" Capellan March Militia fielded the largest number of UrbanMechs thanks to the fact it was mostly composed of captured Capellan equipment. Its prominence within the Confederation meant the UrbanMech was among those "Mechs within the CCAF to receive upgrades following the recovery of lostech; the other States followed suit with much less priority over improving other "Mechs. Despite this the sheer costs necessary to replace the UrbanMech"s engine and increase its top speed meant even the Confederation limited their refit packages to improving the weapons and armor only. [Source: sarna]

New Paper Craft: MechCommander 2 - Starslayer Free Mech Paper Model Download

MechCommander 2 - Starslayer Free Mech Paper Model DownloadThis mech paper model is Starslayer, a Mech from the real-time tactics video game MechCommander 2 of the BattleTech/MechWarrior franchise, the papercraft is created by Vlmarshall. The size of finished model is about 204 (H) x 95 (W) x 125 (D) mm.

The Starslayer was intended to replace the Crab as the Star League"s standard medium "Mech after Cosara Weaponries were unable to meet the SLDF"s required production volumes. Though Blue Shot"s design won selection in 2765, the Starslayer would also be plagued with technical delays with its tracking system that would delay full production until 2772 and the Amaris Civil War. Despite the SLDF"s desperate need for material, tensions between General Kerensky and Archon Robert Steiner II would result in Blue Shot delaying SLDF shipments until 2781 due to lack of "up-to-date" shipping information and as a result the Starslayer would be far more common in the LCAF service than the SLDF. By now a thoroughly Lyran Commonwealth design, production of the original 2C Starslayer would cease during the technological decline of the early Succession Wars, with Blue Shot Weaponry resuming with the superior and updated STY-3C model in wake of the Clan Invasion.

The Starslayer is built on a lightweight Thor-4 Endo Steel chassis and reaches a top speed of 86.4 km/h with its Magna 250 fusion engine. The Starslayer also has five Odin"s Own Model 34z jump jetswhich give it the ability to jump up to one hundred and fifty meters. Finally, the design carries nine and a half tons of Norse-34 Ferro-Fibrous with CASE. The CASE protects the BattleMech from complete destruction in the event of an ammunition explosion. [Source: sarna]

New Paper Craft: MechCommander 2 - Slayer Aerospace Fighter Free Paper Model Download

MechCommander 2 - Slayer Aerospace Fighter Free Paper Model DownloadThis mech paper model is Slayer, a House Kurita heavy fighter designed before the fall of the Star League from the real-time tactics video game MechCommander 2 of the BattleTech/MechWarrior franchise, the papercraft is created by Vlmarshall. The size of finished model is about 87 (H) x 493 (W) x 400 (D) mm.

The Slayer is noted for endurance and armor. A multi-role fighter, the Slayer has the firepower to take on both other fighters and "Mechs, with many pilots mistaking the compact design for a lighter craft, a mistake they rarely live to repeat. The Slayer also boasts a double capacity fuel tank, allowing it to loiter over the battlefield for extended periods of time. [Source: sarna]

New Paper Craft: MechCommander 2 - Shootist Free Paper Model Download

MechCommander 2 - Shootist Free Paper Model DownloadThis mech paper model is Shootist, first saw service in 2621 as a heavily armored, electronic warfare-capable command "Mech for SLDF Royal BattleMech Regiments, from the real-time tactics video game MechCommander 2 of the BattleTech/MechWarrior franchise, the papercraft is created by Vlmarshall. The size of finished model is about 210 (H) x 123 (W) x 208 (D) mm.

However, the Shootist"s upgraded electronic suites proved no match for the cutting edge of electronic warfare of its own time. When the BattleMaster eclipsed the Shootist in its intended role as a command vehicle merely ten years after its introduction, the SLDF changed the Shootist"s mission parameters. The Shootist"s balanced mix of weapons and speed, and its heavy armor allowed it a new role: juggernaut for close-combat heavy lances, and later, a bodyguard unit for command lances. This role never proved favorable to the longevity of the Shootist; since the Succession Wars, this BattleMech is rarely seen outside of the ComGuards, Word of Blake Militia, and ancient Clan Brian Caches. [Source: sarna]

New Paper Craft: MechCommander 2 - Sha Yu Free Paper Model Download

MechCommander 2 - Sha Yu Free Paper Model DownloadThis mech paper model is Sha Yu, a Mech from the real-time tactics video game MechCommander 2 of the BattleTech/MechWarrior franchise, the papercraft is created by Vlmarshall. The size of finished model is about 135 (H) x 121 (W) x 133 (D) mm.

Based on the Raven BattleMech, the Sha Yu, or "Shark", is one of the first "Mechs to incorporate the Stealth Armor developed by the Capellan Confederation. The Sha Yu is built on a lightweight Hellespont Type T Endo Steel and is powered by a VOX 280 XL engine that gives the Sha Yu an impressive top speed of 118.8 km/h. The Sha Yu is protected by six and a half tons of Hellespont Lite Stealth Armor, making the "Mech extremely difficult to hit. The Sha Yu also carries a Guardian ECM Suite as part of its stealth armor in order to protect itself from enemy electronic warfare systems. [Source: sarna]

New Paper Craft: MechCommander 2 - Simple Enfield Free Mech Paper Model Download

MechCommander 2 - Simple Enfield Free Mech Paper Model DownloadThis mech paper model is a simple low poly Enfield, originally designed to replace the Wyvern as an urban combat "Mech, but the design never made it to mass production, from the real-time tactics video game MechCommander 2 of the BattleTech/MechWarrior franchise, the papercraft is created by Vlmarshall. The size of finished model is about 199 (H) x 121 (W) x 130 (D) mm.

The plans for the Enfield were lost during the Succession Wars and were recovered by the Federated Suns on the world of Achernar in 2870. Knowledge of the design was kept hidden until the 3050s, when the NAIS selected the Enfield as a companion "Mech to the Enforcer. The Enfield began production in 3055 and has seen heavy deployment to the Lyran Alliancebecause of the constant threat presented by the Clans. The "Mech carries eleven tons of StarGuard III armor with CASE to protect against ammunition explosions. The Enfield is built on a Blackstone MD2E Endo Steel chassis and uses a Magna 250 XL engine which gives the "Mech a top speed of 86.4 km/h to save weight, allowing it to carry a heavy arsenal. Due its extra-light engine, however, the "Mech developed an undeserved reputation for being fragile in heavy combat. [Source: sarna]

New Paper Craft: MechCommander 2 - Simple Dropship Free Paper Model Download

MechCommander 2 - Simple Dropship Free Paper Model DownloadThis paper model is a simple low poly Dropship, from the real-time tactics video game MechCommander 2 of the BattleTech/MechWarrior franchise, the papercraft is created by Vlmarshall. The size of finished model is about 179 (H) x 180 (W) x 180 (D) mm. There are 15 different versions available, and pre-skinned and CBT skinned versions are included.

In the BattleTech universe a DropShip is defined as any spaceship massing between 200 and 100,000 tons that is itself incapable of faster-than-light (FTL) travel. They essentially conduct all other aspects of space travel, including transit between planets and Jump Points and planetary landings. For FTL interstellar movement, they dock with JumpShips by means of a Docking collar.

The mass range is given in the construction rules and reflects the fact that it is more or less impossible to build DropShips which are smaller than 200 tons or larger than 100,000 tons. Since DropShips are meant to be carried by JumpShips, a Docking collar is an implied necessity and is automatically included in the structure of any DropShip.

DropShips are the workhorse of interplanetary space travel. It is the DropShips that move cargo and passengers between planetary surfaces, orbits, space stations and jump points. While transport is their primary role, some have been built for special purposes and act as tugs, rescue ships, fighter carriers or even designated combat DropShips. Accordingly, a wide and diverse variety of DropShip types exist.

Even though many DropShips serve as military spaceships, naval terms such as "Corvette", "Destroyer", "Cruiser" etc. are never applied to them; these are exclusively used for true WarShips, i.e. the huge Combat JumpShips that outclass DropShips by an order of magnitude. [Source: sarna]

New Paper Craft: MechCommander 2 - Low Poly Cyclops Free Mech Paper Model Download

MechCommander 2 - Low Poly Cyclops Free Mech Paper Model DownloadThis mech paper model is a low poly Cyclops, a battlemech from the real-time tactics video game MechCommander 2 of the BattleTech/MechWarrior franchise, the papercraft is created by Vlmarshall. The size of finished model is about 245 (H) x 97 (W) x 174 (D) mm.

The Cyclops began production in 2710 as a heavy assault BattleMech and headquarters unit for Star League Defense Force field commanders. A decent mix of weapons provided the Cyclopswith both long- and short-range firepower and a sizable engine to keep up with mobile operations. The most important feature of the "Mech though was its advanced electronics, especially the Tacticon B-2000 battle computer, which allows the pilot to effectively command up to brigade-sized units. Other aspects of the "Mech are less than stellar however. The diverse array of weapons means the "Mech does suffer somewhat from ammunition issues while meager armoring provides less protection than that found on similar machines, though it is enough to stave off attackers until reinforcements arrive. In particular the armoring on the head section, while as heavily protected as allowed by the internal structure, leaves the pilot and the sophisticated command and control equipment more vulnerable than usual. When operating as the command vehicle at regimental and higher echelons with an ample support apparatus and guarded by a headquarters lance, these deficiencies are far less noticeable and the Cyclops could be kept in reserve until employed to turn the tide of battle or exploit a weakness.

Unfortunately the Cyclops did not fare so well with the onset of the Amaris Civil War when the Rim Worlds Republic Military destroyed it"s primary factory on Caph in 2774. Spare parts for the machine quickly began to dry up, until by the end of the Succession Wars less than ten percent still had a working B-2000 computer. Lacking the critical part of being a command vehicle many Cyclopses were pressed into assault role. Acting as the bodyguard or decoy for the real commanding officer, they proved to be swift if mediocre combat machines. As most enemies know about the vulnerable head and automatically target it in combat, many Cyclops pilots also began adding false head protectors to defend against impacts; a study by the NAIS after the Fourth Succession Warwould eventually find that these caused more harm than good by restricting vision and increasing shrapnel, ending the practice altogether.

The rediscovery of the Helm Memory Core kick-started a number of attempts to replicate the B-2000 computer, however there were no successful attempts prior to the Clan Invasion. As well the invention of the C3 Computer, with its emphasis on small-scale networking, and a switch in doctrine to using DropShips as command posts, saw the Cyclops" command role decline. However Grumium Creations was eventually able to restart production of new variants of the "Mech, and where it has participated a Cyclopswith a working B-2000 has had noticeable effects. For this reason Cyclops "Mechs with a working battle computer were reserved for high-ranking officers. [Source: sarna]

New Paper Craft: MechCommander 2 - Men Shen Free OmniMech Paper Model Download

MechCommander 2 - Men Shen Free OmniMech Paper Model DownloadThis mech paper model is Men Shen, an OmniMech from the real-time tactics video game MechCommander 2 of the BattleTech/MechWarrior franchise, the papercraft is created by Vlmarshall. The size of finished model is about 195 (H) x 132 (W) x 103 (D) mm.

Named for the door guards who serve to ward off evil spirits from a home, the Men Shen is the first OmniMech to come from the Capellan Confederation and borrows heavily from the RavenBattleMech for its basic design concept. The "Mech is built on a lightweight Endo Steel chassis and is powered by a vulnerable but light VOX 330 XL Engine that gives it a top speed of 97.2 km/h that is augmented by MASC system allowing the "Mech to be pushed up to 129.6 km/h in short bursts. The Men Shen comes with eleven tons of armor, giving it a respectable amount of protection. The Men Shen carries on its base chassis a Beagle Active Probe allowing it to serve in a recon role regardless of its configuration. For weapons and equipment the Men Shen has seventeen tons of free pod space. [Source: sarna]

New Paper Craft: MechCommander 2 - Simple Razorback Free Paper Model Download

MechCommander 2 - Simple Razorback Free Paper Model DownloadThis mech paper model is a low poly Razorback, a design that excels at little, but is similarly deficient in few areas, from the real-time tactics video game MechCommander 2 of the BattleTech/MechWarrior franchise, the papercraft is created by Vlmarshall. The size of finished model is about 149 (H) x 76 (W) x 82 (D) mm.

Its ER Large Laser allows it to be effective at long-range, while the missiles and Machine Guns double as short-range firepower and anti-infantry weapons. Though the design is rather slow for a "Mech of its size, it is rarely the slowest "Mech on the field, either. Because of the "Mech"s general reliance on ballistic and missile weaponry, it does not have to worry about overheating under normal circumstances but is dependent on supply trains. [Source: sarna]
