New Paper Craft: MechWarrior 4 - Mektek Kanazuchi Free Mech Paper Model Download

MechWarrior 4 - Mektek Kanazuchi Free Mech Paper Model DownloadThis mech paper model is Mektek Kanazuchi, a Draconis Combine battle armor design, one of the heaviest to come from that realm, from the video game MechWarrior 4, the papercraft is created by BLaaR and Cantaris. The size of finished model is about 160 (H) x 132 (W) x 116 (D) mm.

It also saw the most trouble getting approved. Development of the suit began in July 3053 as soon as the Raiden reached its prototype stage and its designers began working on a suit which would carry more weapons and armor. Originally it was to be called the "Komodo" but when the popular Komodo BattleMech was introduced that same year the name was changed. Progress proceeded smoothly until the summer of 3054 when DCMS High Command severely reduced the project"s budget due to lack of faith in its design. Undeterred, the team continued their work, often with little or no pay, in order to finally reach the prototype stage in November 3055.

Unfortunately the first trials were a disaster for the ungainly suit, weighed down with one ton of armor and a dizzying array of weapons: a medium laser, two small lasers, two SRM-2 racks, a flamer and a submachine gun. Not only was the Kanazuchi slow to move, it was exhausting to wear, and several times its test pilots suffered serious injury from feedback or excessive torque. High Command nearly killed the project again, but the design team had faith in their ability to build a suit which would meet expectations and for the next year worked round-the-clock with no pay on a redesign. When the second prototype was demonstrated before the Coordinator and High Command, it performed well enough to warrant a tripling of the team"s budget. Within eighteen months the suit was ready for its final test, when a captured Timber Wolf was brought in to fire its ER PPC at it. While the direct hit virtually destroyed the Kanazuchi, the test pilot inside remained alive and the suit was still functional enough to respond with a couple of shots from its main weapon. Mass production of the suit began in December 3058, although relatively few were built at first. This changed after the Combine-Ghost Bear War and the Kanazuchi soon became a common sight to the citizens of the Combine. [Source: sarna]

New Paper Craft: MechWarrior 4 - Mektek Jenner IIC Free Mech Paper Model Download

MechWarrior 4 - Jenner IIC Free Mech Paper Model DownloadThis mech paper model is Mektek Jenner IIC, first fielded in September 2784, the same year the Exodus fleet that would eventually become the Clans left the Inner Sphere in November, from the video game MechWarrior 4, the papercraft is created by BLaaR and Cantaris. The size of finished model is about 185 (H) x 147 (W) x 131 (D) mm.

How exactly they acquired this design in that short timeframe is not known, but what is known is that the Clan version fields Clan weaponry, so it is known as the Jenner IIC. This second-line BattleMech is still a fast light that is now capable of delivering plenty of short-range missiles. To achieve this, it uses an XL Engine, Endo Steel structure, and mounts only three and a half tons of Ferro-Fibrous armor. It also carries enough jump jets to leap up to 210 meters at a time. This results in an expensive garrison "Mech, but one that is still in production nonetheless.

Unique among the IIC models, the Jenner IIC changes the leg mechanism found on the original design. While the original Jenner, despite otherwise sharing design characteristics common in Marauder-descended reverse articulated "Mechs, had standard forward articulated legs, the IIC model has reverse articulated legs similar to those on the Stormcrow. [Source: sarna]

New Paper Craft: BattleTech/MechWarrior - Hyena SalvageMech Free Paper Model Download

BattleTech/MechWarrior - Hyena SalvageMech Free Paper Model DownloadThis mech paper model is Hyena, a mech from the BattleTech/MechWarrior franchise, the papercraft is created by BLaaR and Madcatmaniac. The size of finished model is about 240 (H) x 214 (W) x 192 (D) mm.

The Hyena was created as an arena and later battlefield salvage "Mech by the Vining Engineering and Salvage Team of Solaris VII. The design was originally built from converted Kintaro BattleMechs, and were later offered for sale in 3066. VEST only finished one production run prior to the Word of Blake sacking Solaris VII in 3068. First production units went to various mercenary groups, Great Houses, and even several Periphery nations, including the Rim Collection. VEST sold one Hyena at reduced price to a specialized salvage team, Skibinski"s Salvage, in order to showcase their SalvageMech"s abilities to various prospective customers through the unit"s travels.

In 3072 Word of Blake forces dealt a blow to the Hyena’s sales with the destruction of VEST"s production facilities in the city of Xolara. Sales of other SalvageMechs such as the Jabberwocky began to lure potential buyers away. [Source: sarna]

New Paper Craft: MechWarrior 4 - Hunchback Free Mech Paper Model Download

MechWarrior 4 - Hunchback Free Mech Paper Model DownloadThis mech paper model is Hunchback, a respected and feared Reunification War-era street fighter that has been in production since its introduction in 2572, from the video game MechWarrior 4, the papercraft is created by BLaaR. The finished model stands about 25cm tall.

Built for urban combat and close range brawling, this BattleMech has the heavy armor and weaponry to stand up against any foe in the dense cover of a city environment. Its heavy armament does come at a cost: in terms of maneuverability and heat dissipation the Hunchback is merely average, while the lack of long-range weapons means, in the open, the Hunchback is little more than a slow moving target. In an attack the slow speed of the Hunchback forces it to participate as part of the second wave, exploiting any weaknesses in the enemy"s armor after they"ve been softened up.

The Hunchback was originally designed and produced by Komiyaba/Nissan General Industries and sold throughout the Inner Sphere and Periphery, often fielded as part of medium and assault lances. The company was destroyed as a result of the Succession Wars, but the Hunchback continued to remain popular, especially in the arsenals of House Kurita and House Liao where it fit the dueling nature and all-or-nothing combat styles of the two Successor States. Dwindling stockpiles of spare parts and personal dislike for a weapon which could easily overheat the "Mech led many owners to replace the Hunchback"s trademark autocannonwith another set-up, resulting in a variety of variants collectively known as the Swayback due to the altered nature of the machine"s torso. Eventually Kali Yama Weapons Industries bought the rights to the Hunchback and restarted production at their factory on Kalidasa to supply House Marik with large numbers of the "Mech.

The rediscovery of lost technology in the years prior to the Clan Invasion inspired a number of old designs to be upgraded, the Hunchback included. Under contract from the Free Worlds League Military, Kali Yama engineers designed a variant, the HBK-5M, which sought to improve upon the original while still maintaining the "soul" of the machine. While the new variant included several improvements, mostly involving extra protection against ammunition explosions and overheating, to the chagrin of many MechWarriors this came at the cost of reduced ammunition for the autocannon. Their objections ignored, production began in 3046. The new variant came into widespread use throughout the FWLM until Operation Guerrero, when this drawback was responsible for the failure of several advances. After this, Kali Yama finally produced a new variant -- the HBK-6M -- which addressed this concern. In the years since Norse-Storm BattleMechs opened a refit line to produce new Hunchbackvariants and the "Mech saw use on both sides in the Jihad. [Source: sarna]

New Paper Craft: Classic BattleTech - Howler (Baboon) Free Mech Paper Model Download

Classic BattleTech - Howler (Baboon) Free Mech Paper Model DownloadThis mech paper model is Howler (Baboon), first observed among Clan Jade Falcon second-line units, though it has since been proven to be much more widespread, from the game Classic BattleTech, the papercraft is created by Yogsolthan. The size of finished model is about 181 (H) x 120 (W) x 84 (D) mm.

The BattleMech the Inner Sphere dubbed the Baboon is moderately fast for a "Mech its size, topping out at 119 km/h. Its armament is at least partially enabled by the use of an Endo Steelstructure and three tons of Ferro-Fibrous armor.

New Paper Craft: MechCommander 2 - Highlander Free Mech Paper Model Download

MechCommander 2 - Highlander Free Mech Paper Model DownloadThis mech paper model is a simple Highlander, one of the most well-known Star League Defense Force assault "Mechs, serving with distinction for almost two centuries since first entering service in 2592, from the real-time tactics video game MechCommander 2 of the BattleTech/MechWarrior franchise, the papercraft is created by Vlmarshall. There are 4 different textures available. The size of finished model is about 244 (H) x 159 (W) x 161 (D) mm.

Initially designed as a dedicated city and installation defender, the original model featured a variety of weaponry along with fifteen and a half tons of Ferro-Fibrous armor, but perhaps its most useful asset were the three Hildco jump jets giving it a jumping range of 90 meters. The heaviest "Mech design to feature jump jets at the time, their original task was to allow the Highlander the ability to jump over inconvenient obstacles such as buildings and outpace other "Mechs with a faster ground speed, but because of this increased mobility and its versatile weaponry the Highlander proved to be a capable fighter on any battlefield and within decades nearly every BattleMech regiment of the Regular and Royal Armies featured them. However it was during the design"s initial trial runs that pilots began using these "Mechs in what would infamously become known as the "Highlander Burial". Leaping into the air and landing directly on their enemy, a Highlander could literally drive a light "Mech into the ground. So successful was this maneuver that the design team re-engineered the legs to withstand repeated death-from-above attacks and turned what had been a desperation move into an art form, giving Highlander pilots an additional psychological edge.

As with other Star League era designs the Highlander would suffer the loss of technology brought about by the Succession Wars, and when StarCorps" factory on Son Hoa was devastated towards the end of the Second Succession War the original HGN-732 became virtually extinct. An agreement between StarCorps and Hollis Incorporated to rebuild destroyed chassis from scratch using readily-available technology kept the line going until the mid-3030s when limited production was restarted by StarCorps on Son Hoa and Corey, producing barely a dozen new "Mechs per year. These HGN-733 Highlanders were used in small numbers by the Capellan Confederation and Lyran Commonwealth, commonly as part of lances containing Exterminators, Victors, Grasshoppers and Catapults.

Unbeknownst to many ComStar also maintained a large stock of Highlanders left over from the Star League, which they gifted to the Draconis Combine during the War of 3039. The appearance of so many seemingly rare 733s, along with a few 732s whose advanced technology managed to slip through ComStar screening, had an large impact on Lyran morale during that conflict. ComStar would also use the design in their own military forces, the Com Guard, and even during the Clan Invasion a few original 732s would take to the field as part of the Clans" fighting forces. By 3057 StarCorps" Son Hoa line was at full production, producing brand-new original-spec Highlanders for Lyran units of the Federated Commonwealth, just in time to take part in the FedCom Civil War. Highlanders would continue to be produced all the way through to the Jihad, where advanced variants fought both for and against the Word of Blake. [Source: sarna]

New Paper Craft: MechCommander 2 - Simple Hetzer Tank Destroyer Free Paper Model Download

MechCommander 2 - Simple Hetzer Tank Destroyer Free Paper Model DownloadThis mech paper model is a simple Hetzer Tank Destroyer, a mech from the real-time tactics video game MechCommander 2 of the BattleTech/MechWarrior franchise, the papercraft is created by Vlmarshall. The size of finished model is about 64 (H) x 141 (W) x 102 (D) mm.

The Hetzer was designed as a cheap, self-propelled artillery-piece to be stationed on worlds deemed worthy to defend, but not valuable enough to station a complete garrison force or even BattleMechs. Its primary and only weapon is in the front, meaning the unit lacks a turret, making it difficult to employ in roles other than defensive ones. Also, its wheeled chassis restricts its mobility. Due to its decent protection of six tons of standard armor and its Crusher SH Cannon, combined with its low price, the Hetzer is still a valuable asset for poor commands and is especially popular throughout the Periphery. However, Quikscell Company is largely known for its poor manufacturing standards, resulting in many Hetzers being shipped with only half their components installed or even completely lacking some of them. Crews reportedly refused new Hetzers meant to replace their older ones, because they couldn"t be sure that the new models would work properly. [Source: sarna]

New Paper Craft: MechWarrior 4 - Conjurer (Hellhound) Free Mech Paper Model Download

MechWarrior 4 - Conjurer (Hellhound) Free Mech Paper Model DownloadThis mech paper model is Conjurer (Hellhound to the Inner Sphere), a fast, inexpensive medium BattleMech that excels at medium to short range from the video game MechWarrior 4, the papercraft is created by Shiftdel, skins by Sturm, and the scale is in 1:40. The size of finished model is about 224 (H) x 318 (W) x 138 (D) mm.

As befitting its status as a second-line "Mech, the Conjurer uses a standard engine, though it is constructed on an Endo Steel chassis and uses eight and a half tons of Ferro-Fibrous armor. Its jump jets enable it to leap up to 180 meters at a time.

It is noteworthy that the Conjurer is, for all intents and purposes, the Wolverine-IIC and was even reported as such by ComStar in early sightings, presumably for its obvious heritage; it was designed off the WVR-7H Wolverine II variant of the original Wolverine, taking the concept and rebuilding it with advanced technology in the fashion of a IIC rebuild. However the Clanswould not retain the name of the Not-Named Clan for the redesigned "Mech. [Source: sarna]

New Paper Craft: Classic BattleTech - Helepolis Free Mech Paper Model Download

Classic BattleTech - Helepolis Free Mech Paper Model DownloadThis mech paper model is Helepolis, a mech from the game Classic BattleTech, the papercraft is created by Yogsolthan. The size of finished model is about 270 (H) x 198 (W) x 174 (D) mm.

First unleashed by the Terran Hegemony in 2460, the Helepolis is a ponderous BattleMech designed to deliver artillery fire. The "Mech was proven ineffective on multiple occasions and, following the destruction of the production facilities in 2775, the design was lost during the Succession Wars. The HEP-2H dates to 2488.

The Helepolis is a slow heavy "Mech with a maximum speed of 54 km/h. It has a respectable thirteen tons of armor, however.

When rebels within the Hegemony military launched the September Revolt, the new Director-General, Ian Camerondeployed batteries of Helepolis "Mechs to keep them pinned down within the capital city of Geneva at Terra. [Source: sarna]

New Paper Craft: MechWarrior 4 - Hauptmann Free Mech Paper Model Download

MechWarrior 4 - Hauptmann Free Mech Paper Model DownloadThis mech paper model is Hauptmann, a mech from the video game MechWarrior 4, the papercraft is created by Shiftdel. The size of finished model is about 285 (H) x 215 (W) x 143 (D) mm.

The first OmniMech both designed and built by the Lyran Alliance. The inspiration for the Hauptmann is drawn from the DaishiOmniMech used by the Clans. Using information from captured Daishis and data gleaned from the construction of the FirestarterOmniMech, which was shared by the Draconis Combine, the end result is a powerful OmniMech capable of defending itself in most combat situations. The Hauptmann is built on a standard chassis and powered by a 285 fusion engine, adding to the "Mech"s durability as it cannot be killed by a side torso loss. The Hauptmann has eleven double heat sinks fixed on the chassis and can add more if needed in its various configurations. For protection, the Hauptmann carries eighteen and a half tons of armor and has CASE fixed in the right torso to protect against an ammunition explosion. [Source: sarna]

New Paper Craft: MechWarrior 4 - Hatchetman Free Mech Paper Model Download

MechWarrior 4 - Hatchetman Free Mech Paper Model DownloadThis mech paper model is Hatchetman, a very distinctive BattleMech because, as its name suggests, it carries a "Mech-sized Hatchet, from the video game MechWarrior 4, the papercraft is created by BLaaR. The size of finishedmodel is about 229 (H) x 113 (W) x 130 (D) mm.

As well as being the first design to carry one, the Hatchetman itself was the first totally new "Mech produced in the Inner Sphere in over a century, and was also the first production "Mech to use a Full-Head Ejection System. Despite being first manufactured in the Lyran Commonwealth the Hatchetman was actually designed by the enigmatic Dr. B. Banzai of Team Banzai, a mercenary unit associated with the Federated Suns" New Avalon Institute of Science. Thus the "Mech was also a signal of the growing cooperation between these newly-allied Successor States.

At its heart the Hatchetman is an urban combat "Mech. Once it has safely escorted friendly forces out of a city the "Mech assumes the role of guerrilla fighter, ambushing from hiding places to blast an enemy apart at point-blank ranges with its impressive weaponry or cleave them in two with its hatchet. This was illustrated in the design"s first combat test, when elements of the 4th Proserpina Hussars raided Sevren and were literally cut to pieces by a mostly Hatchetman-equipped battalion of the 26th Lyran Guards which lured the enemy into an industrial park. Where the Hatchetman is at a disadvantage is on open terrain, as its relatively slow speed, light armoring and general frailty leaves it vulnerable to other "Mechs.

Initially the Hatchetman"s first production run was limited to garrisoning large Lyran cities, but its early successes inspired further deployments and the "Mech soon began appearing in the arsenal of the Federated Suns, particularly among the Crucis Lancers and 1st Kathil Uhlans. In the wake of the Fourth Succession War and the formal creation of the Federated Commonwealth, the Hatchetman was selected to become one of the standard designs for the Armed Forces of the Federated Commonwealth. Demand for the "Mech soon began to outstrip Defiance Industries" ability to supply it, even after tripling output from their Hesperus II factory, and so it contracted Johnston Industries to set up a Hatchetman line on Johnston. The recovery of lost Star League technology eventually allowed for the creation of the HCT-5S in 3049, with additional variants created in years hence.

Among the other realms the Draconis Combine managed to capture a few examples of the Hatchetman and successfully copy most of the design to produce their own following the War of 3039, however the "Mech proved to be unpopular and the program was canceled. Hoping to salvage the project Independence Weaponry experimented with the design and eventually created a variant more palatable to Kuritan pilots. Out in the Periphery the introduction of the Hatchetman caused quite a stir within the Taurian Concordat when a group of mercenaries brought along their old HCT-3Fs upon integrating with the Taurian Defense Forces. Protector of the Realm Thomas Calderon ordered Taurus Territorial Industries to reverse-engineer the design, which they finally succeeded in accomplishing after much delay by 3054, only for production to be halted in 3066 when the Fighting Urukhai destroyed TTI. [Source: sarna]

New Paper Craft: Classic BattleTech - Hammerhands Free Mech Paper Model Download

Classic BattleTech - Hammerhands Free Mech Paper Model DownloadThis mech paper model is Hammerhands, a mech from the game Classic BattleTech, the papercraft is created by Yogsolthan. The size of finished model is about 230 (H) x 131 (W) x 99 (D) mm.

The second exclusive Federated Suns BattleMech, the Hammerhands was developed in 2475 after a decade reviewing the performance and complaints received about the earlier BattleAxe. Little more than a heavier and slower version of the BattleAxe, the design received its name based on the impressive weapons carried in each arm, serving to trigger the Federated Suns" seeming love affair with autocannons. Much like its sibling design, the Hammerhands went on to influence and be outdone by the immensely popular Warhammer, causing it to fade into history, all but forgotten.

During the Jihad, both Achernar BattleMechs and the New Hessian MechWorks production plant started producing Hammerhands for the AFFS. Production continued after the end of the Jihad. [Source: sarna]

New Paper Craft: MechWarrior 4 - Mektek Grizzly Free Mech Paper Model Download

MechWarrior 4 - Mektek Grizzly Mech Paper ModelThis mech paper model is Mektek Grizzly, a BattleMech that was developed by Clan Ghost Bear scientists in the 30th century, from the video game MechWarrior 4, the papercraft is created by Shiftdel, and the scale is in 1:40. The size of finishedmodel is about 263 (H) x 166 (W) x 146 (D) mm.

Unfortunately, the design excels at no one thing, so it never carved a niche in the Clan"s touman. Thirteen tons of armor are mounted on an Endo Steel frame. Jump jets are mounted so that the Grizzly can leap up to 120 meters at a time. Aside from the jack-of-all-trades, master-of-none moniker, the Grizzly is also poorly engineered. Slagged armor tends to get stuck in joints and weapons, while the actuators are difficult to repair in their own right. Production ceased in 3013 and the remaining "Mechs were relegated to green Provisional Garrison Clusters. [Source: sarna]

The Grigori was added to the Word of Blake Militia"s arsenal in late 3069 as Doctor Cortland oversaw the final production personally. It is constructed on a standard chassis, but makes use of eleven tons of Light Ferro-Fibrous armor, a light fusion engine, and an XL Gyro; as well as the small cockpit that is common to all of the Celestials. Like the other Celestials, the Grigori has a C3i Computer to help direct its fire. [Source: sarna]
